As far as sources of inspiration go, you could do a lot worse than a suntan lotion that people associate with fun, carefree vacations and lazy, summer days by the pool. The downside to all that is that if you don't live up to your original inspiration, if you don't live up to the brand, people are going to notice.

Lucky for everyone involved then that Hawaiian Tropic Zone lives up to its image. There's a whole restaurant side to the venue, with a menu engineered by David Burke featuring a whole host of lunch, dinner and dessert options (the cheesecake lollipops are a definite favorite). But there's also a bar and nightlife aspect to the place that may or may not be more important (depending on who you're talking to).

If it's something to look at while you're knocking back a drink that you're after, you can check out whatever's airing on the venue's television screens (there are more than 30) or you can just watch the restaurant's staff. Hawaiian Tropic Zone employs what they call "table concierges," which, to put it more plainly, are attractive women in bikinis and floral sarongs, attending to customers.

If you happen to be out for a night on the town with your significant other and don't want to get busted eyeing up the help, focusing on your drink (in addition to your date) might not be a bad idea. HTZ (as it's affectionally known by some) has a selection of 40 different fine wines, in addition to a slew of signature cocktails with names like "Bikini Punch" and "Grapefruit Fizz."

The bar area leads out to Hawaiian Tropic Zone's patio, which overlooks the Strip and comes fully equipped with a little hot tub that comes fully equipped with attractive women.More attractive women compete in a nightly beauty pageant and even more attractive women can often be found filling the go-go dancing need in the club. Sensing a theme? Go ahead, just try and go back to focusing on your drink.

On Wednesday through Saturday nights at around 10 p.m., that patio and bar area turns into Torrid, a nightclub concept, complete with guest DJ talent and occasional celebrity hosts, but Hawaiian Tropic Zone definitely has party elements most of the time, Torrid or not.

It's safe to say you probably won't get a tan throwing back an Espresso Martini at HTZ (which is just as well anyway because you know how you burn), but all the other things that go along with the heady aroma of a freshly-opened bottle of the suntan lotion are there. Cute girls, semi-tropical decor, cold beverages, yep, just about everything. Except for, hopefully, your infamous sandals-with-socks combo.
